Last year it was Batman Princess and this year it’s Luna Lovegood.

Both years required a surprising amount of explanation to nearly everyone (No, she’s not Batgirl, she’s Batman Princess and She’s Luna, you know, from Harry Potter) which usually resulted in a blank stare because there are a shocking amount of people on this planet that have not read the Harry Potter books. 

To those people, may I ask what are you doing with your lives?

The answer is that they’re probably too busy being productive members of society rather than sitting on their asses reading the Prisoner of Azkaban for the 11th time (who’s counting? not me) and spending way too much time planning Halloween costumes. Oh, well. I’m not trading.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone = The one with Fluffy

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets = The one with Dobby

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban = The one with the kitty cat

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire = The one with the haircuts (Because I refer to it as Harry Potter and the year nobody got a haircut.) This one is also her favorite. 

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix = The one with “Moe-de-mort” (Voldemort)

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince = The one with “Dun-de-dore” (Dumbledore) 

She doesn’t watch either of the Deathly Hallows because the first one was boring to her and we don’t own the second one yet.

Mabel:  It's mine!
Me:  I know.
Mabel:  My booty.
Me:  I never said it wasn't.
Mabel:  Moedemort (Voldemort) no get my booty? Mabel scared!

I’m knitting Mabel a Harry Potter scarf for colder weather, baking chocolate zucchini mini muffins, and have marinara sauce simmering on the stove.

I noticed Mabel had a DVD case in her hand this morning.

Me: What’s that?

Mabel: BarryPower! (Harry Potter)

Mabel: No no. (she knows she’s not supposed to play with DVDs)

Me: That’s right, no no, but yes, that is Harry Potter. Can you say it again?

Mabel: BarryPower! (points out Harry Potter)

Me: Can you say Hermione?

Mabel: ErrrrrMiney! (points to Hermione)

Me: Can you say Ron?

Mabel: Won! (points to Ron)

Me: Are you a genius?

Mabel: Yeah.

Me: I love you.

Mabel: Yeah.

Obviously, I’m extremely proud. We’ve been working on this for a few weeks now.

I told myself that I would start packing the house while Mabel napped today. And I did. For about ten minutes…

Now I’m back to reading Harry Potter and eating this gigantic piece of chocolate cake. I regret nothing.

Just a quick update.

• I spent 3.5 hours at the dog park with Rooster this afternoon. Operation ‘Make the Dog Like Me Best’ has commenced.

• Piglet loves chili as much as I do.

• I’m watching The Deathly Hallows for the second night in a row. I’m also re-reading The Order of the Phoenix. It’s really no big deal.

• Mabel got her first baby doll this weekend. It was on clearance at Target, and while I think it looks disgusting, she is completely in love with it. She’s spent the past two days giving it kisses and tickling it’s bald head.

Two-Seven of Ten

This is where I’ll be for the next five hours. Curled up in bed with a Harry Potter book. I will not leave the the comfiness of these pillows unless the house is on fire. I hope everyone else has an equally relaxing afternoon.

I really want to buy this jazzy Harry Potter box set for Mabel even though we already own all the books. 

Yes, I know she can’t read yet. I also know that I’m ridiculous.
