Pretty fucking pitiful. But that’s what happens when you don’t exercise for a month…
While I am glad to be back at my pre-pregnancy weight (and into a size of skinny jeans that isn’t an oxymoron) I would like to have more tone. Mostly in my stomach (thanks Mabel) and these Wal-Mart arms. The problem is, that’s the shit that actually takes work. It can’t be achieved by eating better and occasionally running. I guess I’ll break out that damn Gillian Michaels DVD tomorrow. I can’t fucking stand her but the bitch sure does know what she’s talking about.
Mabel was pretty much our top pick for girls until we found out that our baby had a penis. Did anyone give you grief for picking what some consider to be an 'old lady' name?
I think Mabel is such a ham, her name totally fits her too. :)
Ahhh, the greif we got in the begining my whole pregnancy over the name was ridiculous. We loved the name Mabel from the very start. However, Trent’s mother HATED it. She kept insisting that she would just call her “Belle” or some stupid shit like that. I don’t think anyone in my family was very crazy about it either, but they were smart enough to keep their mouths shut.
I love old lady names. Geraldine, Dolores, and Millie Louise were also favorites of mine. I think Mabel fits her perfect, though. Everyone else has come around too, so that’s nice.
I need input! So tell me what you think. While I will only be posting vegan recipes I still want it to appeal to everyone. Even I can’t stand those “Meat is Murder” self-righteous whackos (I’m looking at you Morrissey.) and I would like this blog to reflect that.
“I would rather be paralyzed than be an elementary school teacher. I’m serious… They weren’t bad, per say, they just didn’t listen for shit. I had a hard time not cussing them out.”—My friend Katie, after subbing her seven years olds class for an hour today. (She would never actually cuss a child out, so calm down.)
Confession: When Mabel was a tiny baby I used to swaddle her up and pace around her nursery singing lullabies. It would sometimes take an hour or more for her to finally fall asleep. I sang this song a lot. It may not be your conventional lullaby, but it quickly became a staple.
I know you guys are super healthy and wanted to ask if you have any good food/snack recommendations for the babies that Mabel likes?
I'm always searching for new options for Stelly!
Oh, of course! But I’m sort of a newbie myself on the whole eating healthy thing. When it came time to start feeding Mabel solids I really got interested in the nutrition of food and where it comes from, etc. We have drastically reduced the amount of processed foods we purchase, as a result, but there a few staples we keep around as easy go to snacks.
Cheese Toast (toasted whole wheat bagel/pita with vegan cheese)
Fruit Pouches (These are kind of pricey so I don’t use them very often. It’s nice to have a few backups in the car or diaper bag, though, in case of emergency.)
Fig Newmans (These make me want to die, but Mabel likes ‘em.)
As for the processed snacks, the fewer ingredients the better, and if it has anything that I can’t pronounce or have no idea what it is, I don’t buy it. I recently read somewhere that they can mask MSG under different names (can’t remember what they are off the top of my head) and that was really shocking to me.
Mabel also eats a ton of fresh fruit and steamed veggies. I haven’t found a vegetable she won’t eat (fingers crossed that this continues) and she also loves cooked whole grain pasta with a little marinara sauce. Oh, and she’s a total crack head for Tofutti Cuties.
Give Stelly a big fat kiss from me! That little critter is cuter by the day!
